just back from a ten days in Finale Ligure. great spot.. fantastic food, beaches and trails.

however on e thing that annoyed me was my tyres burping and consequently fitting tubes.

currently run Deemax with Mavic Crossmax Charge tyres both front and rear.

supposedly both rims and tyres are UST, but despite this the tyres burped.

was told that the rims are too narrow and wider tyres should solve it. so i'm now looking for a wider 26" wheelset that will take some abuse (DB Alpine, so no fancy springs at the back other than my legs) and is either UST or tubeless compatible. looking to spend around 400 notes....

cheers in advance...

I've had a pair of Hope/Blunt 35's on my Liteville and they've been good.

You do have to choose your rubber a bit though, Continental are bit round (even 2.4's) Hans Damf have a good shape with some edge.

Should be in your budget if you're careful I'd imagine.

You could get an LB carbon wheelset for about that, my XC 26ers are 27mm internal width, or they do a wider 31.6mm internal width enduro rim.

I've got a pair of these on hope Pro2 hubs, built up, fitted with tubeless tape and valves, and I tested some tyres, but never actually used. They're 28mm so wider than average, but not "wide" in the velocity P35/blunt or LB kind of wide.

Make me a sensible offer if you're interested?

How wide are your deemax?

I never burp my Crossmax SX and they're only 21mm internal, but I often burp my Crossmax STs - which are 19mm with flimsier tyres.

Anyway, 25mm internal should be perfectly adequate.

I've been very impressed with these - good quality, crazy VFM and no burps at all for me...

I had some Spank Oozy rims built onto Pro 2s before my 26er was pinched. They were lovely wheels and went tubeless easily.

I cant see past flows to be honest, i have absolutely hammered mine these past few years and they are still going strong. An absolute doddle to set up tubeless and they just don't mess you about.

What puts me off carbon rims are the high proportion breaking from rock strikes, and i mean this from first hand experience from people i ride with and have met on races walking home.
