Anyone know if the xtr I spec shifters can fit to Xt brakes? Shimano says they fit the xtr trail and race brakes but doesn't mention any others.thanks for any help.

No quite your situation. But I have XTR I spec shifters mounted to Saint M820 brakes.

check they are the same ispec as there are two, ispec and ispec 'b'

Ispec A brake levers are compatible with both A and B shifters, but B levers are only compatible with B shifters.
