I have some choice at the LBS but wondered if CRC and WIggle could do better.
What is good for a 64cm head (xxl) and general XC riding so not full face or piss pot

Have you got a Go Outdoors near you? They do a price match and beat that by 10%. I bought a Met Terra there a few weeks back for £39 instead of £59 - looks and feels great.
I'd never buy a lid mail order. Must be tried on, imo.

Buy from your local shop. That way you're supporting them, don't have to rely on mail order and get to try it on
