So, my elixir 3 front brake has been 'niggling' lately,
a bit squishy, (compared to the back brake, which is also elixir3)
the pads were also rattling a little bit.
(if you are the I struggle with long sentences type, please continue after the next paragraph)
so, I decided to take a look at the youtube bleeding video and after giving it a go have now discovered the absolute shite job that is bleeding these bleeding brakes.
first, the bloody threads are too deep to get the bleed kit screwed onto, so i lashed one up with a 5mm stainless srew that i drilled a hole thru.
next, i cant pump the fluid up from the caliper, something is blocking the way, checked i had pulled the lever in etc. still no dice.
i give up, and put everything back together again, only the bloody bleeding bloody torx screw appears to be made of toffee and has rounded the torx. cant get the bugger out.
(long story short)..
do i
a)take the whole lot apart, buy a £25 kit just for the 5p torx screw and persevere?
b) cut my losses and buy something else? in which case,
c) what is a good upgrade on the elixir, that is a good brake, good value and easy to maintain?
Cheers from teh cheeze!
is it that i smell?
love from the threadkiller.
