But I am not trolling:
Can someone explain the attraction of off road unicycles?
Loads slower, none of the buzz from speed/air etc, all I can think of is the technical challenge (and I respect the riding ability of those that ride them, just can't see it ever appealing.)
Or is it only those that juggle/breathe fire/ride normal unicycles in public that will understand?
I view them in a similar way to trials. Very slow and tech
It's either they are a little bit mad, like a challenge or are attention seeker's ๐
I've always fancied a blast on a unicycle but never off-road !!
Can't get your beard caught in the chain?
I thought they were useless too until one day when the circus was in town
I saw two midgets [one on the others shoulders] riding one down the road from the circus towards town
Some time later, I saw them returning
The midget on top was carrying the shopping - obviously been to the coop
True story BTW
They are there for the sake of it, just like a mountain bike.
Fantastic fun. Huge grin factor.
This chap gives you a good comparison, I know which section looks more fun to me.
Isn't the ultimate in the argument of FS vs HT? When I ride HT or rigid, I generally ride slower and pick lines more. It's still a buzz getting things right.
I've only ever seen them at Mountain Mayhem. They were a very welcome diversion from the tedious dullness of the event itself.
That's good to know ADH, I may well help keep you awake this June!

You mean like road bike then...

I think you've kind of accidentally hit the nail on the head there.
It may look more fun on the bike but the guy that's riding may be having more fun on the uni.
And that's what counts.
from a tech POV I bet it's a hell of a lot more satisfying to be able to ride it on the uni.
For most I would think it'd be retativley easy to ride that trail on a bike but almost impossible on a uni.
Perhaps offroad unicyclists are all insanely good mountain bikers and are looking for something a bit harder to try.
It's just like singlespeeding or riding offroad fixed. it's different, a challenge and quite probably, a lot of fun.
They are there to make single speeders feel inadequate...
I broke my unicyle ๐ I set up a bit of indoor north shore - from the kitchen, down the corridor, out into the hall, over a jump. snap - the pedals ripped out of the cranks. There might have been beer involved
No. 'What leg should I use?' That's a stupid question.
Or
Why is a brick?
They are there to make single speeders feel inadequate...
True, but Kris Holm may never conceive..
Why a duck when it rains? Now that really is a stupid question and one I have never understood
