Ee, weren't that good?! Lovely weather, great course, ace atmosphere, only a *cough* little bit of mud...
Fanks very much terrahawk and all the marshalls! Thanks to the MNPRers too for taking me under their wing for a post ride beer or two!
Really enjoyed today. Think I did 5 laps.
Thanks to Terrahawk for organising it all.
Thank you Mr Sparkle for your encouragement!

I had a thoroughly ace time, the course was great fun, the atmosphere lovely, the organisation and marshalling exemplary and we couldn't have asked for better conditions. I particularly enjoyed all the kids yelling "Aeroplane man!" at me all the way round, obviously comedy props are the way forward if you want encouragement at races and you're a hopeless chopper like what I am. I think I managed 5 laps? in spite of one of my pedals parting company from the crank, a minor crash at the first river crossing, running out of water in the first hour and stopping for a chat on several occasions. Marvellous.
Cheers once again for all the hard work terrahawk!
@Mr Sparkle -those signs were ace, very encouraging!!
Great race, but boy did i blow with 2 to go. And that climb...cruel b@&stards who ever though of adding that. Big thanks to jase and all the marshalls....and what a spring day!

Great Sport Sunday photos - found 3 different ones on me pushing my bike! And none actually riding it ๐ณ
Although, seeing some of the action shots of over the bars and in to the mud i think waking that bit was one of my better decisions.
I was lucky enough to be marshalling and at my spot here are my 6 best crash photos

What an absolute cracking event in superb weather well done to all who took part on what was an ace course. My legs are tired today after riding there and back but the weather was to good to waste!
We knew it was going to be carnage at the bottom of that first descent. So we hung back and let the fast boys hurl themselves down it first, and had a laugh watching them go down like BHS
Not that we learnt owt from their mistakes. I still binned it at the bottom as well
Greg - your wife's pictures are great! Going to sort mine out later
i have to say, some of the photos make waterdale and drinkwater park look stunning! the water crossing by the irwell could be part of a world cup venue...
once again, thanks to jason for organising the whole thing, all of the marshals for giving up their time to make sure we could do the thing and everyone else that was part of the day basically.
That was a cracking day.
Just seen on my Garmin that I did a lap more than I thought (five in total so happy enough).
Also I see I've starred in JonClimbers top 5 crashes (I'm the second one down from the top). I'll be keeping that one.
Loved the marshalling - your sign MrSparkle was great and the relentless dancing from one lass was very cheering.
Great day out and the family loved watching it too.
Cracking day, really enjoyed it, I managed to climb every little hill, but then managed to fall off every time down
John
Thanks for the zoomed in pic of me on my back wi feet in air :-)))))))
Sundaysport photo of meMy first ever "race", I pootled round while you lot flew by. Stopped to provide a chain link and tools for No 212, who very kindly came to find me at the end to thank me. I can barely walk today ๐
you can put a face to the poster.
I appear to have an altercation with some brambles yesterday. Or at least, my arm may have been mauled while I was sleeping. Not quite sure where that happened but i am a ball of tingles today.
My arms and legs are absolutely shredded as well Greg!
Mrs Binners comment this morning... "Jesus! You look like you've been self-harming!!"
Indeed
I'm so glad to see that
A) many, many other people also
went OTB on that descent
B) I'm not the only one who looks like they have put their arms and legs into a wood chipper!
Nice jersey Snotrag
Yeah binners my legs are a bit shredded too, and my back is killing me, although don't know why :-)))))

Whoop!
112th = not last = target achieved ๐
Next years target = top 100 and no injuries ๐ฏ
johnclimber's crash video is awesome. One bloke's OTB is so slow you could time it with a calendar. Tears rolling down my cheeks.
I thought I was only lapped once? Am confused.
Either way, good times.
Thank you and well done to the guys that organised the race. It's the first 1 in 23 years for me. I really enjoyed it and managed 4 laps. Even made it into the 6 best crashes photos above.
72nd, which I'm really pleased with on my massively unsuitable bike! Do people generally carry their bikes a lot in Manchester?

A limited edition so limited they don't exist yet!
And they won't if nobody bothers to order them.
Someone has ordered one ๐
A lesson in racecraft, if you are going to stop as you can't manage another lap, do it before the finish line, at least then you'll get classified...
there will be another chance to put your lesson into practice Tom. Soon....
I'm fairly pleased 71st position, might have made top 50 if I didn't spend so much time on the floor rolling around in the dirt
i'm in the same boat as tom there; no classification due to my stupid timing (and shit knees/lungs).
still had a great time though, so there's that!
Third from last! Does that mean I'm ready for the Monday night pub rides ๐
Ooh terrahawk, you tease...
Quite? happy with 58th place.
Roll on the next time!
