Pints.

Mainly.

The bike ride is merely a pretext. 🙂

I have both a working bike, and I do do pints. So for that reason... I'm in!

Train stop is Walsden if you've not been before. The climb is slightly more forgiving than the one out of Tod and there's a train that stops there at 19.54 which is perfect timing.

But then again, you might like the Honeyhole special as a warm up 😯

Working 'till 9 in the morning, sadly.

Is it actually possible to ride up the concrete bit behind the chuch at the top of Honeyhole?!?
I can barely walk it sometimes..........
Nicest way by far though......

Crikey, looking at the potential attendees, with the exception of Beate and the lovely Ed, we are going to look like the cast of Alien 3.

Well that went well. Snapped chain and a twisted rear mech put paid to my evening after a mile or so. Boo bloody hiss! 🙁

Not too bad really. That kind of thing usually happens at the furthest point from the car, so it could have been a lot worse. And the sunny walk back was quite pleasant. Hey Ho!

Fancy a jaunt out round our neck of the woods next week Harry? Seeing as this now appears to be a touring night ride? An evening turbine/brewery ride perhaps? Starting with a ride up the rake, of course

On a positive note: after my little mishap it was a lovely evening to push a nackered bike up some big hills and freewheel down. While taking some nice photo's while you're at it....

Binbins, I won’t be able to get out until gone 8:00pm next week (the weather doesn’t look too brilliant anyway and you need a nice sunset to fully appreciate the turbines) so it will have to be a Prestwich one for me.

Shall we do the turbines on 24th June or July 1st?

Did your chain really snap or did you take one look at some of the hills and do it with a set of bolt cutters?

Shall we pencil in the 24th then? I'll come over for next Mondays jaunt though.

I would have sanctioned sabotaging my own bike on the strength of the first climb. But I'm too tight. The mech's buggered too. And the hanger. 🙁

24th it is. Have you got a 90 minutes route in mind?

Just noticed that it looks like Jason is taking a whizz in the middle of that picture that I posted. Dirty boy.

I really enjoyed it last night despite the humungous road climbs on an inappropriate bike! Good craic. Good company, good riding and a glorious evening to do it on.
I'm quite happy to host a pub ride from the Lost Kingdom of Darwen sometime, btw.

Aye but that's different. A Monday night ride with a genteel pint afterwards is nothing like the Roman Circus that is the RAW, eh? 😉

Groovy. Some time in July?

Right, I'll scan the Filofax.

As the long shadows fell the Great Armies of the East and West met at a place called... err... Lumbutts.

Hmmm.
