[#1992628]

After selling my Planet X Roadbike last month due to a lack of use, I decided to build a hardtail to live alongside my beloved Maverick ML8. Set myself a budget of £750 (which was pretty much what I sold my PX for) and started scouring the classifieds!

Here is the current state of build - just waiting for my SDG Bel Air (arriving tomorrow) and Crossmax STs/Racing Ralphs (next week) and we're good to go!

2007 Whyte 19 Trail (M)
2009 RS Revelation 426 U Turn
X0 rear mech
XTR front mech
X9 shifters with matchmakers
Avid Elixir R brakes with 203/185 rotors
FSA K Force Lite carbon chainset
Thomson Elite stem and post
Sram PG-990 cassette and 991 chain
Ritchey foam lock ons (god they take me back about 15 years!!)
PDM 424 SPDs (not the best choice but they have sentimental value!)
Crossmax ST wheels
Racing Ralph 2.25 Evo tyres

Have gone slightly over budget but ended up with a much better bike than I planned (too easy to get carried away with PayPal!!).

Having not ridden a hardtail for about 6 years (I used to race a Fat Chance Wicked! many moons ago) I am slightly apprehensive about how I'll get on with it, but I think it will make a great winter bike.

The window needs ripping out, not painting! Plan to rip the kitchen out and do an extension so haven't done anything with it since we moved in!!

I've spent about £850 all in which is pretty good going I think as it must be heading for £3k if all bought new at full price.

Just want to get out and ride the bloody thing now!!
