Now I bought quite a few bits in the past, mostly in the sale. But £200 for this:

I may well use coconut fabric but doea it work any better than a Gore Phantom?!

I like that. £200 seems OK, people spend that on shirts, so why not jackets?

Personal opinion 😀 I think it's £75 over-priced.

Howies are way over priced. And pretty average clothes.

I used to buy a fair bit of stuff but now only really go for jeans. The prices go up year on year and so much for being good to the environment, moving most of the production to china. pish...

I have gone from keen howies fan to hating their cheesy alternative lifestyle speel and frankly average clothes. If you want performance clothing with some ethical conscience try patagonia.....at least it works.

Howies are now a joke for people with too much cash IMHO

ditto

Used to be a fanbwouy but now the pricing is just silly for stuff that looks like it came from NEXT back in the 90's.

The NBL used to be the core of my purchases .. but I've even switched over to Endura Baa-Baa now instead.

Howies - I used to really like them. Now I like a few of their pieces. But they seem to have gone down the same road as Fat Face. Fashion clothes with a vicarious lifestyle attached. Their ethical stance is great, I just can't justify buying the stuff at those mad prices. And the cut of most of their trousers no longer suits my old man frame 🙁

I now go to Alpkit for jeans, Labgear or Howies for Merino tops, Rohan for trousers (really) and I'm trying to get the most I can out of the Howies old Ts I have.

I still have my old Ventile jacket from the old Howies days. A bit raggy at the cuffs but I can't fault the quality. Now that I would consider buying again should it wear out.

I like that. £200 seems OK, people spend that on shirts, so why not jackets?

Yikes! £200 for a shirt! TM Lewin sell OK shirts for £20 each. Show me someone who pays £200 for a shirt and I'll show you someone who's got money to burn.

£75 for well cut, heavy, organic denim jeans is fair value IMO when bog standard looking jeans that aren't organic sell for well over £100 in loads of places. I know you can buy jeans for say £10 in Tesco and Asda but then you are probably sponsering child labour, poor environmental practice, and they look pretty poor. I'd rather have less pairs and wear them right out.

Their merino waffler mid layer top is really good too but poss not that long lasting. We shall see.

Howies where doing a bundle last year with three pairs of boxer shorts and three pairs of socks for £135, a special offer with a discount of 45 quid no less. I quote the guy who sits next to me

"
Three pairs of kecks and three pairs of socks for £135. Credit crunch? What credit crunch?

I like Howies stuff but I’m beginning to wonder if they’re living in the real world.
"

Nice stuff however! I guess Timberland are making a few changes, so hopefully things will improve.
