Anyone used one of These be as a commuter light?

I like the idea of compact form, transverse battery mounting and lack of cables/separate battery packs for use as a commuter light(s)...

Anyone tried one or something similar?
any other suggestions?

Depends on your commute?

I just use one of the old P7 'bastid' lights. Didn't want internal/removable batteries as I didn't want to be fumbling with spares in the cold/wet/dark so a big battery that lasts a week was preferable to me. And a cycle 'cage' at work means I don't need to worry about them getting nicked, so quick release isn't a requirement either.

If on the other hand you need QR, replacable bateries and a one-piece light it's probably fine.

My Commute is ~1 hour each way (maybe 1-1/2 hours if I take a detour).

I Currently use an XML Bastid type light with a 4x18650 pack (also used for MTBing so constantly being moved from bike to bike), it's pretty OTT for the commute; always set on low, I have to disconnect the battery pack at either end of the journey, it's a wee bit of extra faff I could do without.

I also have a 1x18650 - P7 Torch mounted on the frame as an emergency backup too...

I'm just looking to rationalize out the separate battery pack in my bar bag and lose the loop of cable.

I've got plenty of 18650 batteries already, and I don't mind nightly charging of batteries so much, but having something that can live on the commuter's bars permanently, doesn't take up much space, and provides sufficient lighting without needing silly battery packs is what I'm after really.

I may well take a Punt for ~£10, I just didn't know if I should maybe be looking at different emitters to the XML, are Q5s better suited to this sort of use for example?
