Maybe experiment with some sugar and water, make a kind of syrup (!). That way, it'll all wash off really easily. Could come unstuck if you sweat a lot, though, but it's better than using nasty glue.

Or, rubber cement out of the puncture repair kit?

Wood glue? Will need a bit of soaking in warm water, but should peel off ok.

Egg white, with sugar?

Ha ha! Love the music! I have no idea what a 'babbies head' is, though; I'm a Southerner.

If you're going to be running, then I fear the above suggestions might not work, or be practical, as you'll sweat a lot, I'd imagine. so, how about using a cut-down bit of a pair of flesh-coloured tights, with the cotton wool glued to that? Ie, a sort of wig. You'd only have to use a tubular bit of the leg, which would allow for a bald patch, if you have one of your own, or you could fashion one out of something pink and stretchy.

I've thought about this far too much, really, haven't I?

cut the foot off a pair of tights etc... fit it on your head - glue the cotton wool to that?

Hmm, might experiment with the tights thing. I might be able to have some cotton wool underneath and pull it through some holes p'raps... If that fails I might try doubling over some gaffer tape and sticking the cotton wool to that. It might last part way up the first climb... ;0)
