i bought a really cheap hyd pack (i know but im skint after the bike purchase).its actually great in all respects but the first load of water i put in the bladder tasted rank! really disinfectanty/plasticy! any good tips for removing this taste other than flushing with lots of water?
Miltons? stick it in the freezer overnight?
why the freezer?
leave it in water with a couple of dentrue tablets overnight.

Bicarb of soda.
Rinse with miltons- clean and hopefully no nasty taste
Stick it in the freezer- stops it going mouldy/smelly.
go with the denture tabs, fill with water ,pop a couple of steradent in let em fizz away leave overnight empty and rinse in morning and minty fresh and sterile, I would advise against freezing the bladder, as they can and do split as happend to two of us in morzine last summer, they were camelback so if yours is cheap, be careful

The tablets are dirt cheap too.
just to point out that its the brand new plasticy taste and not gone yucky over time cos its new.

Jack Daniels gets rid of the plastic taste.
jack daniels is better for getting bladdered not going in bladders!

Milton tastes horrible.
Denture tablets are ok if you want a minty taste.
Bicarbonate of soda is what you want.
A long time ago someone in a bike shop told me that to get the plasticcy taste out of a new water bottle you should fill it with water plus a teaspoonful of vinegar and let it stand overnight.
