Hi all,

I'm looking at this and I was wondering how much it'd cost to get it up and running. I.e. get all the suspension serviced, bearings changed and potentially replace any broken bits and pieces?

Also is there anything you can see that looks shagged?

Or am I better of looking at something newer for more moneys?

costs for servicing a fork vary greatly depending on what needs doing. They start at £60/70 with a just a re-oil and bearings replaced. So maybe allow £100+ depending on it not needing new internals. The rest of it looks scruffy but serviceable. I'd probably put a new chain and chain ring on straight away. Bleed the brakes yourself. The tyres don't look too bad but hard to tell from the pic. You could buy it and find that the rear hub is knackered or god knows what else. Go and have a look at it iiwy.

Suspension and bearings could be £300.

As for the rest, how long is a piece of string? So maybe budget £400-500 all in to get it serviceable.

I'd probably look at something newer purely to get better geometry.

Go on Pinkbike and see what's available for £700 or less - this caught my eye...

Old Marzocchis are really easy to service yourself.
THey look like the old 05 ones with the very tall crowns; the BB looks pretty jacked up. Could probably find something better TBH.

Those things weighted as much as the earth. Geo wasn't all that great even back in the day - must be a solid 10 years old now?

eBay probably isn't the place for a cheap DH bike - check out pinkbike as above, or Gumtree - seen a fair few older DH bikes on there at decent prices.

It's a proper dog. I'd stay well clear.

A few better options on pinkbike definitely.

I think it would maybe be worthwhile if you were planning on doing the work yourself, but I'd avoid the hassle/risk on bits as expensive as forks/rear shock and go on pinkbike for something in good condition or at least needing just simple(and cheap) things like brakes/gear cables sorting.
