[Closed] How much higher than the maximum marker in a carbon seat post? Will I die.

I've made the amateur error of buying the wrong size seat post. However, I've made my choice and it was £120 so I'm not getting another.
So, it's a carbon seat post into a carbon frame. I'm 66kg in weight, how much higher than the max mark can I go safely?

Thanks

Two things,

1) it's all about having enough post in the frame so the frame doesn't break so check what the frame manufacturer has as a minimum insert.

2) you might get away with it but the consequences of not both physically and financially could be quite high.

When did you buy it? Can't you exchange it?

(a) not at all

(b) is the bottom of the seat post below the bottom of the seat tube/top tube join and, if so, by how much?

It's a Santa Cruz highball. I have no idea what the minimum insert is.

You can't, you are taking a risk. I'd want at least a couple of centimetres below the bottom of the top tube but in reality I don't think I'd chance it.

from the SC website;

What size seatpost do I need?

We use a 30.9mm seatpost. Always ensure it is inserted into the frame a minimum of 100mm (4").

It's only just below the join, but to be honest, even at the max mark it's not far off.

Buy one the correct diameter next time. I had lots of problems using a shim in my SC Blur.

It's the right diameter but not length.

Measure twice, buy once.
