How many punctures before you sack of a commuting tire?

As above.

Two today. One fixed with a tube, second refused to patch as I had glueless park patches that don't get on with moisture and the tube had sealant on it.

Last week a puncture that sealed with sealant and one sealed with a tubeless worm.

The tire ,a panaracer gravel king, has about 6 mushroom plugs and a tubeless worm in it. It's done about 3000 miles on the front and maybe 500 on the back.

My Christmas present was it's replacement, a Vittoria  mezecal  to match the mezecal on the front. That sat ready in the garage.

Fix it or replace it?

I would of replaced after the 3rd puncture with a tyre more up to the job of commuting in a high puncture area like a Schwalbe Marathon Plus

One of my pet peeves is dealing with punctures whilst commuting, nothing worse than trying to fix a puncture and the sealant cant fix the leak so you have to fit a tube, get covered in sealant fitting it, then arrive late at work in a sticky mess and then have mushroom plug it and set it up tubeless again once you get home

That sounds like it's done its duty?

2 close together.

Run strong protection tyres like the marathon plus. Punctures are a rarity. Fix one properly at home removing all the little shards of glass from the tread with a pick. Another puncture within a month or two means the tread is too but up and it’s time for a new tyre.

More than one in a week or so is usually a good indication that they're worn out.

(Schwalbe land cruisers, tubed with zefal liners)

Conti GT All Seasons are pretty robust and about 10% quicker than a Marathon Plus.

What about some Schwalbe G1 speed race guard They have been pretty bombproof for me.

I hate dead feeling tyres, but not as much as i hate fixing punctures.

How long is your commute? I used to commute by bike every day (pre covid) and I only ever used marathon plus tyres. 1 puncture in over 12,000 miles of commuting on London roads

I got a puncture on a normal marathon tyre on my Brompton (by a thumb tack, I'd heard a story people had chucked them all over the cycle lanes and I clearly picked one up). Replaced it with a marathon plus. It wasn't my regular commute bike
