I did a solo "everesting" this year! An enjoyable 5hr ride followed by an awful 10hr ride. Would not recommend.

I bet most of us haven’t even been up actual Everest once, so we should answer 0.

Some have 😜

Only 2.6, but then I'm on the edge of the flatlands. A local 35km ride is only about 350m of climbing.

6.3 but that includes some hillwalking. No turbo nonsense though, that's all genuine.

Those stats are mostly a bit disappointing after the last couple of years. Lockdown, Covid, post-Covid. It's all been a bit of a struggle this year.

18.6 for me so far, should make 19 by the end of the year. With the aid of uplifts will also make about 35 everests of descent.

24.4 so far, aiming for 225k meters by year end. And I live in 'flat' Leicestershire, split equally ish between road and mountain bike.

Similar to Scotroutes - 6.33 at the moment, 56,056m to date this year between biking, running and walking.

Some of these stats are quite impressive.

I’m on 65,000m of climbing which is 7.28 Everests == 126 Metric Mam Tors (which makes me feel a bit better).

3.2 according to Strava, but I only put a fraction of my rides on there. I know how miles I've done overall, so scaling by that, I get 7.6. Probably an over-estimate. The important thing is they were all outside.

6 but I don't record all my rides on Strava. Probably add a couple more for for all my rides I did during lockdown and the ones I do with the kids.

Can't see me doing another by the end of the year as I've lost my motivation for getting wet, muddy and cold. So happy that the gyms and pools are open again so at least I can do some exercise over the winter.

About 20.4 this year, all outside and about 60% MTB. Might just get to 21 by New Year. Lots (250 so far) of relatively short rides but all my routes around here (Dark Peak) are 25 m/km climb so it soon adds up. I'm still slow though..........

Ive almost done 13 Everests. Im pretty sure i can get it to 13 by the endof the year.
Ive been doing the 100 day challenge on here, and the short after work rides seem to be about 100ft of ascent per mile here in Snowdonia

Off to calculate what i nned to get to 13....

Great thread!

I follow Pavel Sivakov on Strava and he's currently at 62.3 for 2020 (554,054m) 😳

8.6 all outside on MTBs. Mostly off-road too.
None of them were naked ascents.

It's a feature of Veloviewer which takes its data from Strava so if you log your rides on Strava they get picked up by BB and you get to choose which mountain your ascent is compared against. See Scotroutes' graphic a few posts above.

Does this include the extra 76cm that has been added to the altitude of everest recently?

Some seriously impressive stats being flung about on here.

I have riden more than I have in a long time, maybe ever and I'm only up to 3.3 Everest's. A mix of local, zwift and even a few days in the Alps up alp d'huez and a couple of others.

I take my hat off to you guys in double figures.

11.3 - hopefully make it to 12 by year end.

Edit: not including my walking, running or stair climbing - and I don't do indoor cycling.

6.66 Everests, better get out this afternoon and nudge that up to a less ominous number...

Is an interesting way to look at your riding, I've averaged 10m in every kilometre, which sort of makes sense as for the first part of the year I was specifically avoiding hills whilst my back recovered, and later in the year I've been doing a lot of CX specific stuff which near me means lots of muddy singletrack next to the canal e.g. pan flat.

In between all that I put in some really good hilly efforts on the gravel bike, but these have been eclipsed by long hours on the dumb turbo (no 'faux' elevation gain 😉 ) or rollers (ditto).

Next year should be good as I potentially move to the foothills of the Campsies/Ochils and ramp up training for the Pyrenees...

Exclusively mtb, I have undertaken a mere 1881km travelled, with not quite 42km ascended. This is apparently 4.8 Everests and 44.7m per km.

I knew my rides have become shorter, but that's quite eye opening. Wont change a thing knowing though, available time is available time.

20.5 apparently. I've got a pointless (and probably unachievable) target to get to 200k metres by the end of the year which requiires >1000m per day for the whole of December, and I'm already 3000m behind so I don't fancy my chances. On the plus side I live in Calderdale so at least the geography is in my favour. The shortest road ride I can do to get 1000m of climbing is about 27km.

About 4.5 according to my man maths. As with most not so many 'big' rides this year mostly smaller local stuff

I presume this is findable on Strava or similar but damned if I can work out where; I can see total distance.

However, have done about 5200km and my rides average around 0.8-1.0% average climb so as a guess that's about 5000m = somewhere between 5 and 6?

12.6 times (running), including doing it once in a day back in September... although I stopped at exactly 8848m - so I need to go back for the extra 76cm

@theotherjonv - go to your profile page on Strava (this is for the website on desktop) and there's a block under "My Stats" one part of that is the current year which has totals for distance, elevation, time and number of rides. Like this:

Distance 3,766.7 km
Time 408h 2m
Elev Gain 73,472 m
Rides 203

Almost exactly 5

Which looks poor in this company

But I keep my ego intact by imagining that the 2.1 and 3.3 are less likely to post here than the 8 and 17 crew

9.07 ascents for me. That's 3 more than last year, which was crap for bike riding for various personal reasons, and on par with my best year in the last 5. Pleased with that.
