[Closed] How long until the first hydraulic road brake lever hits the market?

Anybody got any inside info on this? The BB7s on my Tricross squeal like hell and I'd love to put some decent hydraulics on it.

I know Hope have a cable to hydraulic adaptor - are they working on a full hydraulic system?

(Greetings from sunny Khartoum by the way... no cycling here though.)

Not soon enough. It's not going to happen until Shimano do it really though. I'm using the original Hope cable converter on some E4 brakes on my Tripster. Works a treat.

I suspect some one in Japan is working on it now that we have got electric shifters and maybe a bit more space.
Don't forget that Magura did some drop bar levers for their hydraulic rim brakes.

The squeal is most likely caused by contamination off the road. You just need to get them really hot once in a while. I used to get this all the time when commuting and I used one relatively steep, long hill to get enough momentum to let me really slam them on. Remember, it's very rarely you need to really, really brake hard when riding on the road (or at least it should be relatively rare.)

Think of a Dual-Control on it's side - that's the basic mechanism of a hydro road STI already done. There's loads of space in the hood for the resevoir. And Dual Control worked well but failed in the market so there's an incentive to use that technology elsewhere.

I'd bet my bike Shimano will have one very soon.. but not until it's tested to the level that pretty much only Shimano test to.

I'd settle for a hydro hooded disc brake lever for a SS / barcon shifter bike for now, suprised none of the taiwanese companies or Quad have done that yet. It's a small market but a small market to yourself can beat fighting for space in a crowded one.

HS66 & HS77.

Got a set of HS66 but unfortunately the levers won't work with callipers AFAIK.

The Maguras are a closed system, so won't work with open system calipers. I've done it with a remote master cylinder from Hope - a bit cumbersome but works well, and the advantage is it works with STIs.

The squeal is not down to how the pads are actuated.

Your BB7s should not squeal, however I am not diagnosing them over the internet!

epi, want to part with them? Various engineering mnates reckon it might be done.
Ben, what have you done? I am working on adapting old Hope brakes but lethargy is holding me up.
pm me as that stirs up my emails which I watch

I don't seem to be able to PM you - Hope used to make a remote master cylinder that fitted to the top tube. They discontinued it, but they seem to be working on a new version:
