[Closed] How do you remove a new style XTR chainset?
Removed my fair share of XT ones but not the new style XTR.
Have a funny looking tool with four very small prongs on it.

cheers mate - done it. Right faff though, will stick to XT in the future!
Someone buys the most expencive part they can afford and can't work it.
Sounds familiar 🙄
Welcome to STW!
Now he does know so is it ok for him to own it now?
as long as they know how to ride the bike with it attached i don't think someone should be castigated for not being able to fit/remove a part.
TBH If your not mechanically minded and don’t have an instruction sheet its not the most intuitive system, I have had 2 people ask me on the phone how to take the crank off.
I also agree that compared to the standard HTII fixing its a bit of a faff.
you wanna swap for my xt one? 😉

Once the rings are worn no problem 😉
Once the rings are worn no problem [;)]
alright it's on my SS 😀
1. You can't put XTR on a singlespeed
2. Have you seen the price of XTR rings!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But TA do a nicely priced set of replacements that match the profile.
Not trying to arsey, but do people really think it's that much of a faff to screw the adapter into the crank and undo the Allen key? It's different to XT, but you wouldn't call it harder (although I agree it may not be obvious the first time)...
Sorry, clearly feeling argumentative. Throw me a Curly Wurly
who actually uses a torque wrench to re-fit em though ? or like me, do you just crank up the bolt then tighten the bearing lock-ring ?
I go by feel. Tight on the bb cups, bloody tight on the main bolt. I do use a torque wrench on carbon parts (when I can be arsed), squashed a few over the years.
