I just bought some really cheap Kenda Nevegal tires for a retroish bike (1998 Mountain Cycle San Andreas). But the tires have huge logos "KENDATIRE.COM" on them, which will look out of place on a late 90s bike.
I know that sponsored racers just use a black marker to cover the logos, but is there a way to remove them?
Just burn them off with a lighter.
This is STW for heavens sake
If you're going to shave it off, then make sure you use DE, not one of those nasty multi blade jobbies!
Acetone should do the trick , but not sure if it will affect the rubber.
Safer option is t-cut and lost of elbow grease.
White spirit might do the trick.
Acetone. White spirit not so much.
Tried:
- Oops (gentle) paint remover
- Coleman fuel
- Carbureator cleaner (solvent)
- Brake cleaner (solvent)
- Paint stripper (solvent)
The only thing that even touch it was the solvent paint stripper. And that just made it worse by removing the black printing, and exposing more white! ๐ก
Black marker FTW!
Just ride in mud
Just ride [s]in mud[/s]
Leave it. Internet was in full swing by then.
Bike will get ridden, but not a lot as its a retrobike. ๐ And definitely not in crap weather!
Marker obliterated the huge .com logos but left the smaller ones. Even though the interweb existed, tires generally didn't have the humungous logos seen today...
When you ride it just make dial up noises
Beeeeeeeeeebooooooooooooddddddddddd
ddddddddde
eeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiipip

eeeeeeeeeeeeee
Sounds like a lot of hassle, why not buy a new bike to go with the tyres?
It's kinda obvious when you think about it.....
Ah - 56Kb MODEM there, Pook - is that the right era for the bike??
