Surely this must be quite an easy process. The only way I have found so far is to add waypoints manually in the Mapsource program (which I don't fancy doing).
Can you just explain what you have? Have you tracked a course on the Garmin and now want to use it as a GPS route or just convert to a course to track yourself against in the future?
There should be a function on your gps to save rides in History under training (I think) then they appear in courses. It is a bit difficult without my Garmin in front of me but I'm sure someone else will be along soon to help.
I've been for a ride and the ride is now saved as a track.
If I wanted to send this file to someone else so they could follow it, does it not need to be a "route" rather than a "track"? I know they're both just lists of points, but it doesn't seem possible to follow a track (or have I got this wrong?)
I use GPSies.com - upload the course directly from your Garmin and download the file as a GPX to use GPS route - even better, you can email the link to your mate and he download it directly onto his Garmin.
EDIT: or load it onto you Garmin Direct Account online and it can be downloaded there?
Thanks, I'll have a look at that, but as far as I know I don't have a Garmin Direct Account.
Also just found a program called WinGDB which seems to work.
No worries! Garmin Connect Account costs nothing, so I would do that if you can. Also The GPSies.com is also free and is an excellent site (more importantly - VERY easy to use)!
cheers. I'll give those a go as I'm getting nowhere fast at the moment!
Just tried uploading my last track and then downloading as a GPX file and it took about 3 mins all told! here's a link....
