All those years ago.
Went out on my recently re-aquired 1980s road bike and the brakes are S H one T, I can't believe I actually raced in a bunch and relied on those to slow me down.
You think the disc brake was a revelation, well I say thank thee Lord for thy Dual Pivot.

same thing when i toured last year.

Try new brake blocks - you might be pleasantly surprised.

ditto, I recon my old shimano exage600 brakes nearly, if not as powerfull as my new ones, partialy because thye dont have flapy paddle gears which whilst great for shifting, make the brakes feel rubbish and stiff.

I could do stoppies on my 1st 'proper' race bike, Modolo brakes/Mavic rims. Was about 9stone wet thru mind!
