I'm annoyed that bike mags imply that the bikes they raved over (32lbish) a few years ago are suddenly too heavy to be pedaled up hill or all day.
Sick of the BS...
And yes i realise they are trying to sell me new stuff!
Rant over..
Oh yes
What they do not say but infer in adverts with the best ever speialized/gaint/trek is that last years model was shit โ
or am I being cynical
Lets keep it real and not buy new next year.
Plus they'll have to sell em all off cheap next winter!!
I'll just have to add some weight if i buy a new one...
Shimano have the right idea with groupsets (4 year cycles for XTR) and motor manufacturers do it with cars and motorbikes. The fact is, the technology isn't moving quick enough anymore to justify model years. The brakes and wheels on some of my bikes are 10 years old simply because the new stuff isn't doing it noticably differently.
Name 1 bike "they raved over" in this fashion. I don't remember any 32lb bike being raved about for pedalling uphill..
Marin B17.
The biggest difference over the last ten years with suspension bikes? Surely it must be the shock technology.
It occured to me as i struggled to downshift for the nth time yesterday that Shimano seem to have made Deore worse, wondered if that was just to 'make room' for SLX?
