Why do you want it lighter?

Wheels and tyres is the easiest way to loose weight, 321's aren't exactly light and XT hubs can be heavy.

What size is it & you?

Are the forks coil or air?

it's 19" and i'm 6ft,they're 426 air revs so they're pretty light.

Different tyres
Go 1x9 if you fancy it.
Anything else would be too pricey to be worth it I reckon.

Those shocks are heavy.
I'd recommend removing it and replacing it with a stick. Or feathers held together with cable ties because they are light too.

The wheelset does look a wee bit out of place and won't be light. They seem a bit excessive looking at the rest of the build, good rims mind but not light.

Drill out your non-vital components ..

like this

^ You can do this to your down tube, tubes are strong enough these days - it'll be fine!

Haddock on here went into his LBS. Literally weighing up some handlebars the assistant came over and asked him what he was doing
"If i get these I can save 100g on my bike", says Haddock
"Well," replies the assistant, "why don't you just lose a stone?"
"er...."

Fair point, accepted by Haddock there and then.

Take it to bits, weigh everything.

Now work out what to replace.

sdg ibeam post with ifly seat saves a good amount, not bad value for money if you can find somewhere doing that 'buy the seat, get the post free' offer.

as already said, wheels and tyres would save a fair amount, 1x9 will save around a pound too

ditch the dual shifters too. just because ๐Ÿ˜›

Changing the wheels will make the bike feel a lot lighter as well as actually being lighter.

321 rims are a bit chunky for normal XC/Trail riding in my opinion and XT hubs not that light (though not bad at all). If you wacked on some Hope Hoops (Pro 2s on Crest rims or similar) that's make a huge difference imo.
