Hi all,

Can anybody recommend a shop who can (and will) rebuild my Hope Vtwin/X2 brakeset in London? The pistons aren't returning to position and I suspect it will need new seals.

I've asked 4 bike shops local to me (Tooting, London) who won't touch Hope brakes. I'm floundered!

Cheers,
Rich

ps. I've emailed hope about getting them serviced with them, but no response as yet.

Not even Moose?

They sell Hope, at least.

Sadly, I've been out of London for a while now, so have lost track of the best spanner-wranglers. Greg and team at Moose have always been good people, though.

You tried Soho Bikes? They seem to think very highly of their workshop staff!!

Good call! If they've still got the same folks that were in there when I last went in (About a year ago!) they've got some very good spannerers!

i've just messaged Moose, thanks for the recommendation. I didn't know that they existed :). Colliers wood, that is not too far! If they don't bite, I'll go to Soho Cycles next. It's just a faff to get there between leaving work and them closing..

I didn't know that they existed

That makes me sad.

Moose are one of the old skool MTB shops* that rode the early MTB boom and then Greg just kept on keeping on. A lovely bike shop.

(*Remember the days of Psycho, Psubliminal, Dirt and Dreams and more...)

I would also have recomended Soho bikes

Strangely, somewhere like bikefix might also work OK, it's a proper workshop with folks that'll aim to fix rather than replace, might be worth a shout if you're struggling

+1 for moose tbh I'd give them a ring as last couple of times I've been in they've been mad busy with servicing and repairs.

Soho bikes, friendliest bunch I've met in a bike shop - all proper riders and they have decent mechanics.

Hope serviced my brothers V2s for free....
