We will be in touch
Got a set of grx at the mo which I've had fkr a while. Summer upgradeitis kicked in. Anyone using the RX4+'s, heard fitting is a pig but performance top notch...ita for the monster gravel machine...
Running the RX4+ DOT versions on my Sram Force gravel bike
No issues setting them up, just followed Hope's procedure like i have done with all my Hope brakes
Braking wise they are much better than the 2 pot Sram Force calipers they replaced, they should come with two sets of pads, one set is blue for road use and the other is red (i think) for gravel, been running the gravel ones and no complaints about the braking, almost as good as my E4's
Bonus that the RX4+ use the same size pads as the E4 caliper as i have a few spare sets
I did ask Hope if they were planning to fit the new stainless insert pistons to the RX4+ (RX4+ uses two 16mm E4 pistons and 2 smaller 14mm pistons) no plans as of yet but they have been great in my V4 calipers
Thanks for that, o was assuming the 4 pot would be an improvement over my 2 pot grx / ultegra calipers
There’s little if any difference in overall power. They’re also a little more fiddly to get perfect, but they don’t leak.
I’ve got 4 sets of RX4s and RX4+ and haven’t had a problem with any of them despite being utterly abused on the commuter.
Fully agree with escrs, very similar setup and pleased with them over the standard SRAM calipers. Found them to be less faff to bleed and align than the SRAMs too.
yes they are great, and means i can use same pads as my E4s
i burnt a set of GRX pads (within 4 weeks) on a muddy wet alpkit hathersage ride a year or so ago, so upgraded a few weeks later, i've recently replaced the rear e4 pad. front still look fine
I've just changed over to the RX4 + from ultegra calipers - one with a cracked piston and one that leaked. The braking performance is about the same but the advantages for me are; rebuildable seals and pistons, pads that last much longer and the same as my mtb.
I had to replace one due to a fluid leak from a hairline crack, so they're not perfect. But I find them OK to set up and they have plenty of power and modulation.
I love mine, running with Ultegra levers.
Used this video to set up
Each caliper comes with two sets of pads, spacer blocks & a bleed syringe.
They rub for the first few rides & then it disappears just as it said it would in the instructions.
Mine looks nice and the feel is good but one piston seems to be hyperactive so I haven’t managed a ride without pretty bad drag.
Followed the hope setup (repeatedly) to no avail.
I’ve now got them on three bikes. Vast improvement over the ultegra callipers that I had originally on one of them. Maybe the shimanos always leaked, but I’ve found the Hopes much more powerful, consistent, but most of all SILENT!
Got a set on the cutty.
Weren't particularly hard to set up.
Bit finicky to bleed correctly but once done job done.
Couldn’t get mine to stop rubbing. Pads just didn’t retract very far. Disk fairly true and no probs on shimano calliper (grx, which leaked). Just put on a deore calliper on after getting fed up with it. It is a shame as it was otherwise powerful and silent.
I don’t think there’s really any power boost on the RX4+ vs the 2 pot 105 level calipers tbh. However the Hopes generally don’t start microleaking - one of my 105 calipers started doing that after about 2 years.
Just got another one to replace the Shimano caliper on the front (hasn’t started leaking yet but I’ve changed bike and needed a flat mount front so thought I may as well get a bling Hope one to match the rear).
I’d say it took a few rides for the Hope to develop some bite - I did a load of hard stops from speed like I do with sram brakes but the Hope pads took a lot longer to bed in. Using the blue pads that came with them.
Thanks.all, ordered a set today
