This is a pretty specific query that will only help about 2 people ever but here goes...
I had a hope pro2 evo rear hub with a Shimano freehub and standard QR end caps, but change of bike meant I bought adaptors to change it to 142x12 and XD driver. The XD driver requires a narrower (diameter) spacer on the drive side so that came as a bundle with the XD driver.
Now I want to swap it back to take a Shimano style freehub, can I reuse the XD specific spacer, or do I need a new one? Can't work out whether using the narrower spacer will cause any issues, in my head - it won't, but ... then why did Hope continue to make the Non-sram specific one...
Anyone know?
I don't know if there is any difference in the length of the spacer (should a SRAM freehub differ in length to a Shimano one)
Drop the guys at hope an email service@hopetech.com they will let you know if there is a difference.
They likely produce both as there is a different outer diamiter to the face that meets the bearing in the end of the freehub. That face, the lip on the end cap will act as a barrier to grit grime and dirt getting into the bearing.
Did the x12 adapters not come as a pair with the
XD drive side being a third part?
I've just machined a couple of millimetres off the diameter of a standard 135mm QR end cap to use it with an XD driver.
I'm sure they're smaller only to allow the cassette tool to fit inside the 10 tooth cog.
