I need a rear shock of 216 x 63mm, would a 215 x 63mm work or would the 1mm difference have me wailing and gnashing my teeth as I try to make it fit...?

I very much doubt that anyone would notice the difference in shock length.

Isn't the 215/216mm just a variation in the rounding up / down of the 8.5" imperial value?
