I can't for the life of me work out how to remove the knocking in my rear hub - an 09 Hope Pro II...I was checking my bike over a week or so ago and noticed the rear drop-out on my Marin Mount Vision on the non-drive side was loose...when I pulled the brake the bike could rock back and forth - sorted that with a retighten of the 2 bolts and that seemed to be sorted...
Gave the bike a wash a few days ago and was just checking the wheels were still nice and tight and the back end feel loose - very slight knocking laterally...my previous Hope hubs were fixed with a 5mm allen ket in the axle and a wee turn but this isn't the case with these...I need to recheck if it is loose or just my imagination but if it is, how do I tighten it?
Cassette seems to be firmly in place and the freehub seems to be solidly attached so I'm guessing the bearings or something in the axle has worked a touch loose and just needs a tickle.
Cheers.
i lost my freehub bearings but that was associated with some play in the freehum easy to strip examine repair great vid on the hope website
At a guess, you need new bearings.
The bearings keep the axle in place so you need to check them and see whats what.
Video's available on the hope website for information on how to strip these
