I'm in the market for some new wheels for my Orange 5, settled on Pro 2 with Stans Flow rims, I know the regular spokes are easier to get hold of and adjust but are the SP noticeably stiffer?
I've got a set of Pro 2 on my hardtail and never had an issue with them, anybody experienced the difference between regular Pro 2 and the SP versions?
I was in a similar position to yourself and decided to try the SP version for my second pair.
Hard to say how much stiffer they are as the standard are so stiff anyway, but they have been faultless since new and have never required the use of a spoke key despite plenty of rough treatment.
Like mine, and would buy again if that helps.
straight pull for sure
lighter and stiffer (the difference in spoke tension is very noticeable when you have both std. and sp next to each other)
Cheers, it's a shame you can only get the SP hubs in black was fancying gunsmoke to match the rest of the hope stuff (sad I know!!) But the way I ride I think stiffer would be better!
