Anyone made their own panniers?

I'm gonna have a go a making my own using a thick cotton duck tarp like the carradice material and some Arkel cam lock hooks for the attachment.
Probably going for a roll top design and may add a couple of pockets if I have enough material left over.

I'm planning on making one, to fit my works laptop case in. Not found one big enough yet, apart from a Kona Ute bag.

There's lots of advice and info on making frame bags on the internets. Principle is the same and it should be simple enough. Try Pennine Outdoors if you need materials.

I do recall some on the ctc forum - maybe worth a search?

How are you going to stiffen the backs and attach the hooks? Aluminium sheet?

Interesting project - keep us posted please!

Globalti - Haven't decided yet. Will wait and see when I receive the hooks. I think I will base the shape on my GF's Vaude set. They have an external stiffener/protector but i know some have internal one.
