thermoplastic 4" guttering from b&q - thats what I use - you can heat it up and mould it to shape

If Hora is looking for ideas to reuse/recycle something then that is good, surely. If buying to make your own then I agree that a decent saving has to be made to be worth it.

Yes. I've got a SKS? mudguard- utterly useless thing. I just don't want to buy another product that spins or doesn't catch all the spray etc and ends up being ditched!

Not a turner but I've also found the pissflap doesn't work

I've just fitted a muck nutz bender fender, to replace a neoguard. The fender bender is far better.

Here's one I made from guttering and a heat gun. It's rough because it was temporary.

It was for the back of the seatpost, but it's the same principle.

Here's a homemade mudguard from the mtbr forum. Uses large plastic 55 gallon* drums for base material.

* probably 44 gallon here - anyone know a good freebie source for these?

I've just googled that- looks a good design and not as fugly. Might pull apart a milk bottle later!

Which SKS mudguard? If it was the shockboard, then you screwed, as there nothing out there that actually works as well as they do.
Brilliant mudguard, and when the fitting breaks, as any of these designs are want to do when you crash, just attach it on with a couple of zip ties.
IME under downtube mudguards are useless, unless matched with a pissflap type guard too, then they only 'just' start to match the shockboard.
Just my experience...

Did the milk carton one. Seems to work well and doesnt look too bad.
Enjoyed bodging it togetherbut a muckynutz might be a bit less daffodil..

Old plastic milk bottles, old knackered inner tubes, stanley knife and zipties...

Hours or blue peter style fun...

Enjoy!
