We're off on a family Holiday in the next few weeks and I have a couple of mtb guided tours booked also. Any recommendations on insurance companies, alot of the standard policies my wife has been looking at don't cover mtb'ing.

Virgin Travel Insurance covers all aspects of MTB except 'DH Racing'. I have used them the last couple of years - you must tell them though.

I have a dog tag policy that is really good. More to the point when I made a claim as I was unable to travel on a ski trip earlier in the year due to ill health they paid up in fully very promptly and with no quibbling. Much impressed.

Just use the reciprocal arrangements if in the EU. the only thing that is not covered is emergency repatriation.

Insurance is simply not needed IMO

Yup - and if you have no insurance you don't pay for them either.

I'd get insurance you're travelling with family

you can't just abandon people they get I'll and can't travel back

TJ doesn't like kids so he'd just dump them if they couldn't make the plane home ๐Ÿ˜‰
