Ages ago I snagged my existing Shakedry jacket on some HERAS fencing erected by the contractors next door (it was dark and the fence had sharp bits of wire poking out that I didn't see when I walked past). Happily they replaced it for me and I got the damaged original repaired by SMG 😎
I'm thinking it's a bit extravagant to have two £300 jackets, especially given that they spend most of their time rolled up in a back pocket 'just in case' so I reckon I should sell the spare, but then, they don't make them any more and I don't think anything else comes close in terms of performance!
Anyone else own or owned one? How long till they're knackered if you don't wash too often and don't e.g. let you cat sharpen her claws on them 🙄 I'm sure I read somewhere that they seem to just develop wee pinholes over time...
Just keep it! They’re great but quite fragile. I’ve got 3 (all picked up in sales!) so you’re not as bad as me! I’ve a gore one from when they first came out (still going strong), a castelli one that’s less flappy then the gore but not so easy to store in a back pocket so only used when putting it on from the start, and a gore running one with a hood that I got for a bikepacking trip.
I actually have *two* spares. I know that's overkill, but shakedry really is that good and I think it's going to be a while for anyone to get back to that level.
Hmm, not the answers I wanted (hoping to fund the purchase of a nice fluorescent Paclite for commuting in!) but I think I agree, the Shakedry really does make wet winter rides significantly less unpleasant!

Yeah I've one on the go and two spares ATM. I'd keep it. There's nothing else remotely like it currently available and there doesn't seem to be anything on the horizon.
They're pretty inert so presumably have a decent shelf life?

Well I'd hoped so but am no longer so sure after trying to get a 10 year old but lightly used Arcteryx jacket repaired and being told they basically have a shelf life whether they're used or not.
I think that applied more to laminate shells though (and surprisingly also specifically Arcteryx, she didn't explain exactly why but something to do with how they tape them or something).
