What would I get?
At the moment my only MTB is a parts bin fifty quid bike. Primary uses would be XC racing, winter training and tame trail riding.
Though I have suspension (old 2004 SIDs) I only use those on the trails. I lock out my forks for racing, unless there are no climbs.
I'm happy to transplant the 3x9 XT I have.
So thinking a budget lightweight? frame, carbon forks and new wheels and transplant the kit I have.
Last night summed it up when I said that I'd been more at home on my crosser.

If you're planning to buy a frame, forks and wheels then nothing you have won't transfer over. On One Scandal frame for £210?
Yep, don't want go mad money wise. The Giant XTC Composite 29er looks good.
Not sure how they compare to the 26" version, but mine had bugger all mud room - not the best for the Chilts in the wet.
