So I entered on the 1st Dec but not showing on the start list. Why would that be? Do I stay in bed?

I think HtN should give me a free entry as a gesture of friendship from the North to the South. After all, I keep hearing about this fabled Northern friendliness and generosity and stuff...

TJ and his stoker are in.
Elf got lost in the technological terror that is the British Cycling website.

TJ is in as far as I know. Not sure about t'Elf.

Jase is looking after the entry. I'm in charge of cones.

EDIT - How about that for customer service? We can get back to you as fast as other people can talk to our sponsors.

the comment relates to a deleted thread where the Elfin stated that Buff products were no better than the 2.99 alternatives, a staff member of Buff took offence, argued the case for their product and offered Elfin a free genuine Buff at the next event he see's their stand at.

TBH I've not felt that I'd be welcome, so you won't be seeing me there.

I'm sure you'll all be gutted...

So, did Elf & Tj actually enter, or was it all mouth & trousers?

I tried to enter online, but there was a glitch or something, and it woon't let me. I offered to pay for a ticket directly to the organisers, but instead of actually trying to help me out, certain persons claimed that there was nothing wrong with the online system, when apparently there was. I wasn't given any information as to how to get round the issue, other than to try doing what had been failing all along. Hardly helpful.

Then there were a few arsey comments by some of the organisers. All because I criticised a system that wasn't working properly.

Nice. Good to see that fabled Northern Friendliness and Hospitality...

there wasn't a glitch, however you were asked to check that a particular box on the website was checked.
You then replied with a 'can't be bothered now' email, so there wasn't much else we could do.
Now, if you'd simply emailed me via the address published on the website and on the entry page, I could have helped you but you decided to make a medium-to-large fuss on a public forum at the same time that others were entering the event quite successfully.

So definitely close then?

yes. Sorry, it filled up really quickly (a mere 10 weeks)

Forgot to check this morning ๐Ÿ™ I'll probably be there anyway, I think you emailed one of my club leaders about the junior races Terrahawk.

I coon't be bothered with the faff of trying all that again, after it had failed several times for me over a period of several hours. I offered to pay youse separately if you could reserve me a place, could you not have done that?

you decided to make a medium-to-large fuss on a public forum

Well, at least I got a quicker response than when I did actually email someone. ๐Ÿ™„

Pook's and CrazyLegs' comments made me feel that I was not welcome. I'd actually prefer it if you had the stones to just say that, rather than try to be funny with pics and stuff.

I'm very friendly. Ask everyone who's met me, rather than judging someone you don't know.

you should have got it sorted

I emailed Hairy Spider, who forwarded it on to the BC bloke, who din't offer any useful advice at all. Basically said to do exactly what I'd already done. That took two days just to get that unhelpful 'advice'.

I offered to pay directly if someone cooduv sorted me a ticket. Why coon't they have just done that?

Not a very nice way to treat someone, speshly considering I've cajoled others into entering.

nbt, crazylegs and pook are not organisers of HTN, so even if they said you're not welcome it wouldn't mean very much at all.

me and Andrew are the people you need to speak to. If you want to enter HTN, email me please and we'll sort this out 'offline'.
This public ranting against our event needs to stop right now.

I've already emailed Hairy this morning. I got a quicker response on the forum, which is why I'm using it instead of relying on emails.

There's been quite a few 'late entry' begging emails and a couple of phone calls.

Tell you what - entry will re-open on the 10th January for 24 hours.

everyone chill FFS

HTN (like many other local races) is organised by some blokes who have jobs, families and lives to live, but give thier time up for free to put events like this on.

There may be a few glitches, but don't give them **** or they may stop doing it and that, IMHO, would be a bad thing.

Peace and love

PL

For the record; I was not slagging off HtN in any way, just the BC online entry system. I appreciate just how hard it is to stage such an event, and think HairySpider and Terrahawk are doing a fantastic job. In fact, such is HtN's reputation as a fun event, I am prepared to travel all the way up to the frozen wastes, to join in!
