Having responded to a poster inviting me to discuss cycling facilities at stoke park woods bishopstoke, I now find I've been invited as a representative of my group -eeeek!
So in order to attend and appear prepared to discuss facilities can anyone else local (or not) suggest facilities that would be beneficial to riders. I'm thinking along the lines of a moors valley style trail with a dedicated 'skills' area.
For information the woods is Fc and surrounded on
3 sides by housing, it has a number of firetracks and not much elevation but does have some fun short bits.
So any pointers or suggestions?
Ooooer - that's not far from me. So......QE park maybe? Or Rogate? as examples of what can be done. Reckon a good pumptrack never goes amiss.
Need a trail maintenance group of some description also......
Hi lucien
Yes, to all your points although I get the feeling from work thats been done currently they're more focused on the kids/ young parents etc- lots of wood climbing frames and structures have sprung up.
The letter has been in response to some building by the local dirt crowd, which I have to say was pretty solidly done, just maybe a bit ambitious for 70% of the riders who discovered it.
The shame of it is as I'm entering what will be a very time and emotionally tough bit of my life I am unwilling to become the figurehead of a trail group etc, just didn't want a meeting that could effect riding rights to pass by without someone there to represent the bikers.
quick up to catch the evening crowd again
I live very near and know the woods well. I remember making a note of the e-mail on the notice but not getting round to contacting them. I don't have huge amounts of time but am willing to help if needed... Is it just an initial meeting or are they wanting some kind of proposal? On the upside it might be an opportunity to get something done. They have certainly invested in some play structures for small children. The Moors Valley model of a singletrack loop and a pump track/north shore would be excellent.
Hi
I live a few doors down from the woods and would be keen to chip in where needed if it is a local or reoccurring meeting... I don't get a chance to ride often enough but would be keen to make sure the right things are happening locally
Cheers
Neil
