I've just recently built up an old rigid inbred in ss guise with mostly second hand/cast off original equipment parts from my good bike (genesis core with reba's, mavic/hope pro2 evo's, renthal bars, thomson post, deore everything else).
I ride it most days, though not far, it's got poor, but fast rolling tyres, only a rear brake, front is a bit low & bars narrow, but it's my go to ride for farm duties (yes, farm).
So today, I jump on my upgraded genesis, which I haven't ridden for a few weeks, and it felt like driving a bus through custard, I kid you not, suspension felt so odd, and knobbly tyres, wide bars took some handling, just felt big & unwieldy.
Someone help, please, I need to put some passion back into the relationship (as per thread in chat forum lol), how do I do it?
I'm guessing just ride it hard & fast? (May help other guy too haha). Day out Friday, considering Brechfa, good plan? Or BPW?
single speed all the way...
Funnily enough my ss is my 'go to bike' all the time now. (got a full sus Marin and a hard tail GT, but love my cinelli ss. just get on it and ride. Best money I have EVER spent on a bike.
Just enjoy the simplicity....
I can see a rigid carbon ss in my future.....
Forgot to mention snapped chain on genesis too, under very little load, side plate on a link just went bang, great, that helped matters!
Finally finished my ss this evening after months. Quick spin. It was ace. Really looking forward to a good ride out.
It's such a nice feeling, just no fuss, simple, natural, sounds really gay and beardy, but it's all true.
I'm on a converted geared bike, but a ss specific carbon, maybe 29er would be awsums.
I had the exact same issue when I bought a Genesis Day One some years ago. About 2 years later the road race bike was sold for lack of use.
SS High Latitude ownership means there's a possibility the Anthem X may see the same fate.
