I'm planning to get the weekly groceries by bike to save money. It's a 10 mile round trip in quite hilly countryside. I'm going to tow a trailer. I want something stealthy so it won't get nicked from outside the shop but also want something decent enough to make the journey enjoyable. Unlimited budget but obviously the more expensive it is the more likely it or bits of it will get pinched, so where to draw the line? I'm thinking rigid mtb with Vee brakes. Will probably buy secondhand.

First thought was a Roadrat but would like suggestions please.

poor mans road rat:

26" wheeled slot dropout inbred, with Road rims + tyres, on MTB hubs. (hope bulbs)

SSable and hub gearable, but currently "proper" geared

Oh yeah, I'd prefer 700c Wheels too.
