Evening all,

A lovely ride today spoilt by my Garmin 800 which kept trying to be helpful by giving my directions. I much prefer to follow the purple line as opposed to the thing beeping at me every 2 seconds. I have tried to turn the routing off but no joy. Any one know how i can solve this?

Thanks

When you select the route before you hit "Go" hit the spanner icon. There's an option under there called "turn guidance" or something. Make sure that's off.

With the unit set to following a course. Go into tools (spanner), set Turn Guidance and Off Course Warnings both to off.
Edit - as above. Beaten to it by pdw. ๐Ÿ™‚

thansk will give that a go tomo - drove me mad today, I was ready to lug it into the woods at one point! I have to admit, both the 705 and 800 are a PITA to use! I had the 705 for two years and I never fully got to grips with it, the 800 is better (but not much better). Garmin need to take some lessons from apple!

Totally agree, absolute pants to initially get sorted, but work great when finally set up.
The included Quick Start Manual is useless but much more info can be found somewhere in the full manual;
