Do i need a matt tape or will the standard stuff suffice?

Will it be visible? On shiny paint wotk i can see how it would be 'invisible' but i am slightly concerned with my black anodized finish.

Thanks troops!

to protect just from cable rub or are you going to do that daft thing where you cover your entire bike with it? if it's the latter then there's no point as surely the point in ano is that it's harder wearing than paint. i've got a black anodised frame and have a few spots of heli tape along the cable runs, you can see it but i'm not really that bothered about stuff like that!

The former mate... just on high damage potential areas. Down tube, cable rub areas, maybe top tube where i have the habit of taking a breather post exertion.

Consider the Lizard Skin carbon weave / leather ones on CRC http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=7460
they on my black ano frame and blend in nicely, but I reckon std heli tape is fine as well. Not sure about you but my bikes are brown pretty quickly in the UK.

Maddness. Just ordered some of those bad boys!

The trails are drying up a treat up in the north, sunday there were pockets of 'moisture' but on the whole very encouraging. I'm putting the speed kings on for tomorrow evenings venture.

Thanks for your help.

Tape applied... more challenging than i imagined. 😕

Being one for aesthetics, i decided to measure and fit the the best i could just removing bits from either side of the 100mm strip to acomodate cable mounts and contour the BB area. I also did the bit on the top tube that is my 'up and over' grip and strap securing point for my carrier.

Pleased with the outcome, it is visible but i can handle it for the benefits it provides.

A word of advice though... definitely get some assistance when it comes to application if you choose to go to as much trouble as i have to make sure that it is central. Apply from the center of the down tube and work up the sides.

Easy.
