I used a company called Dogtag last year.
They cover sports i.e mtb, snowboard etc.
Never had to claim thankfully but have head good thing of them.
Unfortunatley you only find out how good insurance is when you need it most. ๐Ÿ˜•

using an e111 card should be OK

I prefer to spend a few quid on a separate policy to avoid hassle though, especially with the family in tow

I've used Dogtag before.

They are (or were last time I used them) underwritten by Europ Assistance.

I broke my collarbone and had to jump through all kinds of stupid hoops to get my treatment money back from Europ Assistance, with fees being siphoned off all along the way.

e.g. French doctor's say so that I had a broken collarbone and he treated me wasnt good enough, had to get verification from a UK doctor that my collarbone was indeed broken. Didn't have a doctor at the time so had to go and register. Then the doctor of course charged me for their signature etc.

Farcical.

My mate the same holiday did his wrist and getting his money back through whoever underwrites Snowcard was effortless in comparison.
