As our Senior Chef at Hotel La Cascade, you will be responsible (along with the owners) for menu planning, food purchase & preparation, health & sanitation, and kitchen staff recruitment & team management. The position demands creativity on a daily basis, excellent communication skills, and the ability to maintain the highest of culinary standards. There is also ample opportunity to showcase your talent for special events, including major road and mountain biking events, weddings, corporate lunches etc on a regular basis throughout the summer. The position is available from May till September with potential for year-round employment and would suit a young aspiring Executive Chef in a leadership role with a new company.
Applicants should be able to work well under pressure, be organized, flexible, self-motivated, willing to work irregular hours, and have a great sense of humor. Other characteristics would include a positive mental attitude and an outgoing but laid back personality.
An enjoyment of the outdoors would allow you to take full advantage of this beautiful area of endless recreational activity. We are located in the stunning southern French Alps just below the Alpe d’Huez ski resort with ample opportunity for road and mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking, rafting, and skiing in the winter months.
The village of Le Bourg d’Oisan is a summer vacation destination for many international travelers and is often a stop on the Tour de France road bike race – The famous start of the “21 bends” is right outside the hotel entrance.
Requirements include 5 years full-service, high quality restaurant experience.
