Isn't it an old Proflex? - they did have a carbon swingarm (some did anyway). Carbon your arse indeed! 😉

Who do you think the £99 specials copied from? 🙂

Looks a bit suspect to me, especially as there are no decals on the frame.

I had the 853 model (not to be confused with Reynolds tubing) in 1993. That had a steel swingarm. Then I had the 854 with an aluminium swingarm, both with elastomer rear shock and vector forks.... same as Djernis won the world champs on!

One of my customers has an unused Proflex kicking about, often wondered if it was worth asking for, but it would probably be another bit of junk taking up space in my garage.
Tis a good'un though all old XT and electric control shocks.

i reckon itsa K2 2000, released in 1998 iirc...

i've got a proflex 857, complete with Carbon fibre swingarm and Girvin Vectors. I gave it to my dad, he now rides it to the shops...

feeling foolish Renton?

(edit - 4000, thanks sheppie)

That k2 4000 is a decent machine.

I've often wondered why no-one makes any forks with a girvin vector type design any more. Light, stiff and easy to maintain. Would be even better with a modern air shock.

They do.

🙂

Would like them a lot more if the fork legs observed a more regular angle of rake, and had trailing dropouts like the old Vectors. They look a little crash damaged as they currently are.

I had some carbon Girvins which had a coil spring 'upgrade' over the elastomers. They were great until the seals went on the shock and then they were rubbish!

I traded them in for some Pace RC35s. Just went to try to find some photos, but I think they are in storage at the mo 🙁

Those GermanA forks look like odd new AMP forks. Just don't worry about the pivots 😯

Myfatherwasawolf - Djernis won his world titles on Ritcheys. He stopped winning them when he signed for Proflex...

Clubber - pretty sure he won the world championships in 1994 on a Proflex - but thanks for trying 😉

I did a photoshoot with him when I was working at MBUK. We went round my mums house and he was eating parkin and drinking tea in her kitchen.
ME: "This is Henrik, mum, he's the world champion".
MUM: "Well, that's lovely, but can you ask him to move his van please, as he's blocking the drive and I need to go shopping".

Still pretty sure he didn't 🙂 I'm pretty sure that he won his last world champ on a Ritchey and then rode for BMW-Proflex while in the rainbow jersey... The reason I'm so convinced is that at the time there was a big thing about whether suspension was better than hardtail and Djernis' change to Proflex was the perfect situation to 'prove' or disprove...

This suggests I'm right:

Hank won all three rainbow jerseys while he was riding for Ritchey

Thanks for that link. I've got versions of assorted linkage forks, but I've never heard of Parafork before. Heavy things though!

Anyone got one?

one of the Oxford shops (cycle king i think) had a carboned proflex, think it was an 857, in the window for years marked up with the full RRP and then a "sale" sticker. They forgot to put the "10 year old bike" sign on it though...

Bit like the London Bridge shop with what must have been about the only production Pace full suspension frame at full RRP hanging on the wall for almost 10 years.

I don't even believe that Pace is for sale- if somebody tried to buy it I reckon the price tag would be whipped off quick as look at you.
