Nope - never seen that before - and we sell loads of bike with Easton bits. What did the shop say when you told them about it?

They said they would send it off to easton, leaving me with no bike while they decide if it is cracked. Its easier to just replace it myself because i need the bike for work

Tsk tsk.

Wouldn't have happened if it had been made out of carbon fibre.....

Christ Dibbs, that's scary! Saw a Tune stem crack there a few years back, not to that extent though!

Had an EA70 crack in the same way - no warranty as was 2 years old. Not bought one again and never will

There was a recall on at least EA30's some time last year If I remember rightly, not sure if any others were involved though?

looks like that stem posted by dibbs was held together by zip ties.

Saw a EA70 completely shear off leaving a big jagged edge last year, was being used on a cross bike and failed on soft grass luckily.

It was only some EA30s that were recalled.

surely it was hose clamps rather than zip ties, no?

Zip ties where for the Garmin mount, it was only sheer chance that I found the crack, as I don't tend to spend a lot of time looking at the underside of my stem ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

surely no big deal for the bike shop to have fitted another stem and then sorted a claim - 5 minutes and no big cost [s]very[/s] exceptionally mean spirited
