Not go go in ground, but big block on concrete I'm going to chain bikes to.
Would I be better putting an anchor in the concrete or just having the concrete set around a some of the chain?
i.e. 5m chain. put 1m into the concrete wet and let it set in there? any disadvantage to this?
I would put a U-shaped tube in the concrete with a steel bar over the apex in the concrete.
That way you can remove/replace the chain.
Remember where the weak point is...the chain can still be cut whether it is anchored or free to flow through the tube.

I put the anchor in the concrete block - you might need to mobilise the chain at some point.
wish I'd been able to do the the u-shape thing, but it proved too difficult due to access.
I didn't think about being able to reuse the chain...i'll be spending a lot on it and sure as hell wont be able to move 200kg of concrete if i move house!
Cheers
I'd probably cast an eyebolt into the concrete. Sandwich some large washers or a steel plate with a hole drilled in it between two nuts at the bottom. Get a forged eyebolt with a closed eye; some are made of a bent piece of steel and would be a lot weaker.
