I've noticed on other threads that some forces operate a system whereby you can report drivers for things like driving whilst on the phone, intimidating cyclists etc.
Does anyone know if GMP operate something similar? Can't find anything on their website but i am rubbish at this stuff!
I've always just rung the local police when required. We did that when a friend had an egg thrown at her from a car. The car was owned by someone in a neighbouring policing district, but the two forces did coordinate to trace the driver and pay them a visit. Always worth reporting stuff like that if you've a number plate IME.
Dont think we have anything like that
Just phone up and report it on 01618725050
Details will be passed to the appropriate officer
Just be aware that if you want any action taken we will need evidence which may involve providing a statement etc
In my experience, these 'minor' crimes (and I use the term lightly) will not get much of a response.
Be clever....provoke the offender whithout being abusive etc and manipulate the offender into taking aggressive action. Then, when you feel "scared" feel free to use "reasonable and necessary force" to educate them in the error of their ways ๐
I've phoned an 0345 number once before to report some dangerous driving. Some kind of "non-urgent" police number for reporting "minor" incidents. It was pretty horrendous, cutting up other cars, agressive and over a considerable period of time, not just one isolated incident. I was driving at the time, my Mum was in the car with me. The police seemed to take it fairly seriously although I've no idea if anything ever came of it.
TBH, if I reported every driver I saw on the phone or jumping lights I'd have a list of 20-30 people from every single commute I've done. I'd only ever bother if it was proper dangerous stuff, being run off the road etc. The police won't care if it's just a driver using a phone.
morgs - the OP did that last week ๐
I think he is taking the more "not in your face" approach to his neighbourhood issues.
@valleydaddy - LOL!
Just remember - it's not what you do that gets you into trouble its what you say you did (obviously ignoring CCTV!!!!)
Actually not looking at reporting any one in particular! ๐
I just noticed that some forces have a non-urgent number or a website where you can report stuff.
Just idle curiosity more than anything else and was prompted by the thread on here about road riding and having stuff thrown at you etc.
I've reported two drivers in the past, and given a statement to a visiting officer plus i've reported a bus driver to his company after the police told me they weren't interested.
Both times the driver in question has been face to face with me, once the driver attempted to knock me off and the other time i reported her because she told me her son was a reasonably senior officer with GMP so it didn't matter if i reported her! I think she may have got a rollocking from her son for that one, intimating that GMP were corrupt and all.
