just been in the Lakes with the family at the Great Lagndale NT campsite and saw this possible route on the map. Anybody done it, was thinking of going from GL to Wasdale but would it be better the other way round. I carried the bike about 3/4's of the way up on Friday night but ran out of time so turned back and surprisingly rode most of it before a well earned pint in the Old Dungeon. If I'd known it was only going to take me 15 mins back to the end of the valley I'd have pushed on a bit further.
Just been reading that. I think I got as far as where the path tuns north. Had great fun descending although probably shouldn't have tried it on my tod. Had to walk one bit which had no path to speak off and just rsembled a red stone river bed but other than that i rode most of it. Generally stayed on the rocky stuff too.
Not sure what route you have in mind, but assuming you're talking about the obvious one then it is very much doable, the presence of those pinky dotted lines usually suggests that it's unlikely to be a first ascent ๐
Now to stop being facetious, the other side 'goes' with much less drama than the side you carried (and rode!). There are a couple of options. Obviously taking the easier choices the west side is an easier ascent/carry and also easier descent. Adding both sides together leaves you with few options other than a big day out loop to get back. Basically, how much you like climbing/technical descents/ shouldering the bike will determine how you find each bit. If you end up riding both sides then most likely you'll see what's in store for the return leg on your way out. That other thread will help you out a bit too.
Was thinking of taking the BW to Boot and then road back to GL. I've got green lines, does it make a difference ๐

Aha, i like your thinking, some decent road climbs and descents on that route.
