[Closed] Gravel tubeless. Rim strip vs tape (20five)

So my gravel bike is going tubeless as I need new tyres any way.

Taping the rims is clearly going to be a pita as there is a deep groove containing large some holes. So is a rim strip going to be easier? Or will the fact that it's not sealed or stuck down make the next step harder. By strip I mean the Stans thing with the built in valve, well I assume it's rubber....

I’ve got those rims, TESA 4289 tape (the same as Stans tape) works just fine.

I’ve just had a thought, I had to double wrap with Tesa tape (it was ages ago I did it) as Road pressures seemed to push the tape into the spoke holes too much with a single wrap.

I use normal Stans tape on my tubeless rims. Never had any problems, regardless of tyre pressures. Just make sure that the tape is slightly wider than the internal width of the rim (2-3mm ought to do it)

I had the devils own job setting those rims up tubeless, mostly with the deep groove at higher pressures, it doesnt play nice with a lot of valves either (I used the ones supplied, some cannondale ones, mucoff and stans valves, none of them would seal against the valve hole even using the old self adhesive tube repair patch under the valve trick), ended up using specialized 29er rim strips and mavic valves, and all good from there on and super happy with the wheels.

I have those rims and just used tape, 2 wraps though.  I forget which valves I used.

Getting Schwalbe G-Ones to seal was a bit of pain but one they were seated they stayed up with minimal pressure top ups for about 12 months before i needed to add a bit more sealant.

I used 2 wraps of 23mm tape on those rims. Panaracer Gravel Kings set up tubeless with no issues.

I put Schwalbe Pro One's on those Hope rims, with stans yellow tape and caffe latex fluid, stans valves. Went up with a track pump. Run them at relatively high pressures (80-85 for road) over a year. Think it was two raps.
