[#10754426]

Perusing maps but could do with a bit of inspiration.

3 days, 2 nights (ish), happy to camp, bothy or bunkhouse. Looking for 50-70 mile days but for the sake of my marriage it needs to be well surfaced, non-technical and no hikeabike. Can include bits of road too.

Basically paging Scotroutes...

Cheers, had a vague memory of a recent thread but couldn't remember the title to search.

Ideally looking for something we could do from the doorstep (Inverness).

Inverness to Aviemore (mostly) following the Wade Road. Round Rothiemurchus, down Feshie, across to Tromie Bridge, Ruthven, Wade Road past Phones to Etteridge. Wade Road/tarmac to Catlodge. Laggan, Glen Shira, Ardverickie to Moy, In to Corrour. Over the hill to Laggan. Ride out to Pitlochry picking up forest roads on the south side of Loch Rannoch, then the north side of Loch Tummel. Train home.

No idea of the distance, but sounds about right (no map on me at the moment). Surfaces mostly good/very good. I can probably advise on the bits best avoided.

It's good Scotroutes but it's not right. Thinking more far north...

Ah well, I'm thinking of riding back from JoG at the weekend, via Forsinard and the Crask (that'll involve some HaB). From Lairg I'd pop in via Croick and Strath Vaich to Inchbae then the old drove road to Garve, Contin and then the back road to Muir of Ord. Surfaces are a bit more variable than my previous suggestion though.

Thing is, the far north doesn't really have what you are after. There's always some pain to accompany the pleasure ๐Ÿ™‚

Just got some mapping up. JoG to Lairg is 160km.

Did this North Scotland Gravel a couple of weeks ago, no HAB involved, some superb gravel and excellent minor roads

Cheers for the suggestions folks.

The weather is significantly shitter than forecast so we're just going to ride in and have a night at Magoo's bothy. Assuming we can get across the river, if not it'll be the Schoolhouse.
