I nonchalantly flicked a look at Hunts website and notice they ask “do not exceed 50psi” on their 4 seasons Wheelset for my 33mm size.
Now, I ride my G Ones at 60psi, middle of their stated range. I ride 70/30 road & towpaths respectively but might ride a gravel sportive next weekend.
Are my pressures too high? What’s the current gravel tyre pressure wisdom?
Something like 35-40psi in my 40c tyres for anything offroad thats a bit lumpy. I increase it a bit when laden with bikepacking gear as its all dead weight on the bike that increases rim strikes. My tyres state max of 65psi.
27/30 psi in my nanos (40mm) tubeless. Fine for blue / red swinley. If commuting go 35/40. Max pressure about 55 psi. Go as soft as you dare... If you strike the rim pump up a bit. There is about 5 psi difference between my pumps (x3 different brands) so don't trust the pump! Go for feel.
I run tubes. (The horror).
If I was to do the sdw tomorrow, or just ride singletrack in Epping ,I’d put 28/30 psi in . For day to day commuting/playing out with a fair bit of road, up to 40 psi.
30psi ish on my 650b 47mm WTB byways, maybe a bit more if I'm commuting on 95% road.
I would like to apologise to all for saying I “run” tubes, obviously that was wrong and I “use” tubes .hth.

35c Clement Xplor on my Croix de Fer and run them at about 55 on gravel and 60 on road, with tubes. 2.1 WTB Nano’s tubeless on the Vagabond and run them at 28 front, 30 rear most of the time. Weight about 12.5 stone.
I have g one allrounds in 38mm flavour run between 30-45 psi
about 45/40 for 38c gravelkings. riding is about 60:40 off:on road with light load and I weight about 13 stone.
40psi front, 45psi rear on 42c Resolutes with foam inserts - any lower and I get rim strikes, was having to run another 10psi +/- before fitting the inserts. I do treat (abuse) my gravel bike like a (crap) mtb though.
Running 38mm Gravel Kings at 60psi rear, 50 front for my mostly well drained gravel track riding. I'm 86kg and can feel the tyres deforming under me, so I'd be reluctant to go much lower I think
I dunno. I give them a squeeze and if they feel a bit soft I put more air in them. If they feel a bit too firm on the trail I let a bit of air out.
Sometimes the pressure's not perfect but the bikes still fun to ride and I haven't had to waste any time doing maths and worrying.
About 40-45 psi on 650x47 Horizons if it's mostly road/hardpack. Much lower otherwise. I'm in the "squeeze test" category. I'm 71kg if that matters.
I’m using 40psi on byways 650x47, I’m a big lad 102kgs could probably go to 35psi but don’t want to ding my rims. I’m on Hunts too and was surprised to see the pressures they say on their site. Got some WTB Resolutes on order for some winter grip, don’t have confidence in the byways when it’s mucky or fast cornering, they’re great on road or forest roads when dry though.
40ish on 700x38 cx comps. More than that just feels hard and skittish. Shorter local rides ill drop the pressure to 35 or untill they start squirming.
Caveat that I tend to accept that the rims ding on square edges so obstacles have to be taken with more skill than either the 25s at 100psi or 2.3's at 25psi.

55 to 45 depending on terrain and fire road descending speed.
Use tubes.
Obviously 45 better grip in muddy terrain and very noticeably better.
